The scoring for the Highlanders started in the 5th inning and ultimately ended with 5 runs on the board for the second night in a row while they got 5 scoreless inning of work from starting pitcher Abby Langkamp.  The Woodlands had to be patient at the plate and it paid off when Shelby Dublin singled to left to start off the 5th inning.  Kayla McCallum came in to run for her and she promptly advanced to 2nd on a single by Roma Thornton.  That was followed up by a shot up the middle from Sam Bratsch that brought Kayla home on the play.  Roma scored when Aubrey Leach grounded out to second and Sam came home on a hard ground ball from Kaitlyn Stavinoha.  The Highlanders tacked on two more runs in the bottom of the 6th when Abby led off the inning with a single that was followed by a shot from Kelcy Leach over the center field wall that got out in a hurry.  The Highlanders would allow one unearned run to score in the top of the 7th to make the final score 5-1.  In her 5 innings of work, Abby had 7 strikeouts and surrendered no hits and no walks for a solid outing.  Emily Langkamp came in in relief and struck out 3 including the final batter of the game with runners on in her 2 innings of work.  The Highlanders will now take on Cedar Ridge in Mumford Friday night at 7:00.  So, mark your calendars, gas up the car, get your red and green ready and head to Mumford early and be loud as you cheer on the girls in their quest for that State Title.  Here we go!  Here we go!  Braveheart!
