The Highlanders finish district play with the run-rule victory over College Park and a 6-4 record. That put’s them in a four-way tie for first with Grand Oaks, Oak Ridge and Willis. What a year! Congratulations girls! Way to finish strong and continue the playoff streak! Keep it going!
In preparation for the weather forecast, we are going to flip games. We’ll play the Varsity at 4:30 and then follow it up with the JV if the weather holds out.
Due to deteriorating field conditions and the impending weather forecast of rain and cold temperatures, we’ve decided to cancel the rest of the TWHS Varsity Round Robin Invitational Tournament. A big THANK YOU to the teams and fans from Bellaire, Cinco Ranch, Cy Ranch, Klein Oak and Liberty for helping to make this another successful tournament! We’d like to wish everyone the best of luck throughout the rest of the season!

NFCA REVEALS 2021 HIGH SCHOOL ALL-AMERICANS
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Forty-eight student-athletes from 38 programs were selected to the 2021 NFCA High School All-America teams, the Association announced on Friday afternoon.
Fifteen different institutions were represented on the first team with Sheldon High School (Sacramento, Calif.) notching two accolades. Overall, Donovan Catholic High School (Toms River, N.J.) and Keystone High School (La Grange, Ohio) led the way with four honorees each. Sheldon followed with three All-Americans with West Monroe (La.) High School and Bryan (Texas) High School earning two nods apiece.

The NFCA High School All-America teams are voted on by a committee of member head coaches from the pool of players who were nominated and earned first-team All-Region recognition in the five high school regions. The three 16-member squads had representation from 19 different states.
Headlining the first team were four 2021 state Gatorade Players of the Year, highlighted by Gatorade National Player of the Year, Jordyn Bahl, a pitcher from Papillion (Neb.)-LaVista High School. Joining Bahl on the first team are hurlers Roncalli High School (Indianapolis) sophomore Keagan Rothrock, Spain Park High School (Hoover, Ala.) senior Annabelle Widra and Lone Grove (Okla.) High School senior Emmy Guthrie.
Bahl led the Monarchs (36-0) to a second consecutive perfect season and the Class A state championship. Nebraska’s returning state Gatorade Softball Player of the Year posted a 27-0 record with a 0.10 ERA. The righty surrendered just 27 hits and 15 walks in 137 innings pitched, and struck out 316 batters. Offensively, Bahl batted .510 with 20 home runs and 55 RBI.
Widra is one of two three-time All-Americans on the 2021 squad, earning first-team honors in 2019 and second-team recognition in 2018. Leading Spain Park to state finals appearance, and a No. 4 national ranking (USA Today/NFCA High School Super 25 Poll), Widra posted a 20-5 mark with a 1.19 ERA and 236 strikeouts to just 12 walks over 123 innings of work. She tossed 14 shutouts and held her opposition to a .145 batting average. At the plate, she hit .480 with 49 hits, 15 home runs, 47 RB and 51 runs scored. She posted a 1.690 OPS and swiped 32 bases.
Rothrock topped the Roncalli record books in 2021 with 24 wins, 364 strikeouts and 13 shutouts. She recorded a miniscule 0.13 ERA, allowing just 10 runs, three earned, over 160.1 innings of works. She issued just six walks and opponents hit just 0.57 (40 hits) against her. Rothrock helped herself out offensively, batting .441 with 11 doubles, 20 RBI and .457 on-base percentage.
Guthrie, an at-large selection, finished up an accomplished prep career posting a 28-2 record with a 0.69 ERA and 310 strikeouts in 163 innings. She twirled 20 shutouts, walked just 24 batters and held the opposition to a .127 batting average. For her career, Guthrie finished with 92 wins, 1,017 strikeouts and a .90 ERA.
Rounding out the first team pitching selections is Keystone’s Lily Cassell. The junior hurler led the Wildcats to a state championship, 33-1 record, and a No. 9 ranking in the final the Super 25 Poll. Cassell posted a 30-1 mark with a 1.35 ERA and 255 strikeouts to 39 walks in 176.2 innings. She registered eight shutouts and held teams to a .165 batting average.
Eagle (Idaho) High School’s Sydney Groves and Donovan Catholic’s Julia Apostolakos earned unanimous selections at third base and utility, respectively. Groves hit .479 with 45 hits, 10 doubles, 17 home runs, 53 RBI and 52 runs scored. She slugged 1.170 and reached base at a .585 clip for a 1.755 OPS. Apostolakos made her trade at third base and in the circle. She hit .582 (46 hits) with eight doubles, nine long balls, 33 RBI, 35 runs scored. 1.025 slugging percentage and .607 on-base percentage. Apostolakos sported a 13-0 record with a 0.57 ERA, six shutouts and 96 strikeouts over 73.2 innings.
Taking home first-team honors at catcher were seniors Jacque Adams of Bryan and Sarah Stone from Bedford (Ind.) North Lawrence High School. Adams, the 2021 Diamond Sports/NFCA Catcher of the Year, hit .385 with 13 doubles, 16 home runs and 52 RBI. She scored 33 runs, slugged .797 and posted a .460 on-base percentage. Defensively, she recorded a .998 fielding percentage, committing just one error over 404 chances. Stone registered a .540 batting average, 10 doubles, 17 round trippers, 49 RBI and 47 runs scored. She slugged 1.264, drew 33 free passes and reached base at a .633 clip. Stone posted a .992 fielding percentage in 263 chances.
The rest of the first-team infield is made up of Sheldon’s D’Auna Johnson (first base), The Woodlands High School’s Kayla Falterman (second base) and Kinsey Fiedler (shortstop) out of Lee’s Summit (Mo.) North High School.
Johnson, a junior and All-Delta League selection, hit .525 with 10 doubles, three triple, five homers, 39 RBI and a .912 slugging percentage. Falterman was also voted the New Balance/NFCA Golden Shoe recipient for her prowess on the base paths. The senior was a perfect 50-for-50 swiping bases, while also hitting .515 with 67 hits, eight doubles, seven triples and 67 runs scored. Setting several single-season and career records during her senior season, Fiedler batted .417 (43 hits) with eight doubles, three triples, 17 home runs and 41 RBI. She scored 49 runs, slugged 1.049 and recorded 25 stolen bases.
The trio consisting of Sheldon’s Dakota Kennedy, Brenham (Texas) High School’s Kramer Eschete and Royse City (Texas) High School’s Cassidi Mullen all hit over .580 and make up the first-team outfield. Kennedy, a junior, posted a .581 average (43-for-74, totaling 11 double, three triples, nine homers, 41 RBI and 44 runs scored. She slugged 1.175, registered a .652 on-base percentage for a 1.830 OPS. Leading off for the Cubs, Eschete hit .585 (62 hits), 14 doubles, 10 triples and 52 runs. She posted a .628 on-base percentage, slugged .934 and was a perfect 24-for-24 on the base paths. Mullin, the lone first teamer hitting north of .600 (.617), registered 58 hits, 13 double six triples, 38 RBI, 21 walks and a .683 on-base percentage. She set the program’s single-season and career stolen base records, going 47-for-47 in 2021 and 119-for-123 during her tenure.
Rounding out the first team with an at-large selection at first base is Chalea Clemmons of Cullman (Ala.) High School. The left-handed sophomore batted .514 (74 hits) with 20 doubles, 21 home runs and 65 RBI, all first-team bests (tied Bahl in home runs). She added 48 runs, a 1.104 slugging percentage and a .582 on-base percentage.
NFCA All-Region and All-American athletes must be nominated by their NFCA-member head coach. All-Region is voted on by their respective region’s All-America Committee members, and All-Americans are ultimately selected by elected All-American committee chairs to receive this prestigious accolade. These honorees are in the top 1% of student-athletes competing during the 2021 season. All special awards are also selected by the All-American committee chairs.
