Due to the large amount of rain over the weekend, Atascocita’s field is unplayable for Tuesday night’s match-up so the games have been moved to Highlander Field at TWHS which is in good shape. As long as the weather holds out, game times will remain the same with the JV starting things off at 5:00 followed by the Varsity at 6:30. We will update any changes but plan on bundling up in your red and green and showing up early to Highlander Field to cheer on the girls as they begin the 2018 campaign to Earn It! Here we go! Here we go!
If you can’t make it out to the game you can listen to the Highlander broadcast “2 Dads and a Mike” on Twitter @TWHSSoftball. Texan Live was scheduled to stream the game at Atascocita. If they are still able to do that the link is: https://www.texanlive.com/2018/02/woodlands-vs-atascocita-softball-2-13-2018-starting-6pm/
After a successful scrimmage season, the Highlanders will begin their quest once again for the State Championship starting Tuesday night at Atascocita H.S. The JV will start things off at 5:00 followed by the Varsity at 6:30. These are two of the top programs in the Houston area and state who know each other well and have a history of some tight games. What a way to start the season! So, gas up the car, leave work early, put on the red and green and head out to Atascocita to cheer on the Highlanders as they Earn It! Here we go! Here we go! ATTACK

Due to our weather situation, the Port Neches coach and I have decided to play Varsity only tonight in Port Neches at 5:00. They have a turf field and we have a better chance of getting a game in there than here. We still might be dodging some rain showers but the playing surface will remain playable. Because of the late notice and the possibility of dodging showers, we are going to just take the one team. It’s not ideal but with the current weather outlook, we think this is the best possible scenario.

Jordan Neely has committed to continue her softball career in college at St. Edward’s University in Austin! All of her hard work and dedication are paying off. We are all so proud of her! Congratulations and Fear the Goat!
Thank you to everyone who participated in the Holiday Home Run Derby! We were able to raise over $1,200 to benefit the kids served by CASA and CPS in Montgomery County. Zane Watson won the men’s division and Emiley Kennedy, Kamryn Burkes and Skylar Stockton tied for the women’s division championship. Everyone had a good time and there were a lot of long balls hit out of Highlander Field under the lights for a good cause. Go ahead and mark your calendars to come back out again next year (Thursday before Thanksgiving Break)!
Ever dream of hitting a home run under the lights with the crowd going wild? Want to practice hitting the long ball for Slugfest? Want to help local kids in the process? The TWHS Softball Team is hosting a Home Run Derby Contest benefiting the CASA Christmas Toy Drive on Thursday, November 16th. The entry fee is one new, unwrapped toy or $10 for each turn in Round 1 (unlimited turns can be purchased until 7:00). Registration and warm-up will start at 3:00 or you can pre-register with Coach Miller in Portable 9 or a member of the softball team. We’ll have the concession stand open and you’ll get a hot dog, chips and a drink with your registration. So, come out and hit some homers, drop some bombs, go yard, hit dingers, whatever your saying is for a good cause. See you there!
