The 2017 Woodlands Varsity Round Robin Invitational was a resounding success with beautiful weather and good softball.  The Woodlands finished 5-0 followed by Brazoswood at 4-1, Bellaire at 3-2, Tomball Memorial at 2-3, Liberty at 1-4 and then Cinco Ranch.  We’d like to thank all of the teams that participated and the fans that came up to watch.  We hope that everyone enjoyed themselves and wish all of the teams luck during the rest of the season.

The Woodlands H.S. Softball Team would like to welcome Bellaire, Brazoswood, Cinco Ranch, Liberty and Tomball Memorial to the 2017 Woodlands Varsity Round Robin Invitational Tournament this weekend.  The softball field is located behind the school with the other athletics fields at 6101 Research Forest Dr., The Woodlands, TX 77381.

Parking will be limited while school is in session.  Fans, please park in the visitor spots at the front of the school when you turn in at Cats Cradle and walk along the tennis courts to the back of the building where you will see the field.  Another option once those spots fill up is to park in the grass that runs along the main parking lot in the front of the school by the tennis courts (the center area is reserved for buses).  Enter at Millennium Forest Dr. on the west end of the school and go around the bus ramp and at the cut-through pull straight into the grass as close to the cable wire as you can.  You can also parallel park along Millennium Forest Dr. and walk along the tennis courts to the back of the school where you will see the field.  Please do not park in the numbered spots in the back by the field as those are reserved for faculty and staff during the day.  They might be empty in the morning but we have faculty and staff that travel between campuses and they will fill up in the afternoon.  After school hours (ends at 2:35) and all day Saturday, feel free to park back by the field.  The entrance to that parking lot is at the east end of the school.

We apologize for the parking inconvenience but there’s not anything that we can do about that.  Restrooms are located on site at the concession stand which will be open with a variety of meal and snack options. Admission for the tournament will be $6 per person for one day or you can purchase a tournament pass for $15.  We look forward to having everyone come out and support their girls on what should be a beautiful weekend.  Let’s play ball!

Unfortunately due to the rain and subsequent field conditions, the TWHS JV Softball Tournament has been suspended.  We will try to find a weekend that works for all of the teams to resume the tournament so that all teams will get all of their games.  We will contact the coaches and post the information once the date has been decided.

2017 TWHS JV Tournament Schedule

Port Neches  is unable to field a JV team for the scrimmage as their team has come down with the flu and they still have girls in basketball who are unable to travel.  Because of this, we will play a single, situational 10-inning scrimmage beginning at 5:00 with our entire program at Highlander Field.  So, put on the red and green, come out early and cheer on the Highlanders as they prepare for their run to the 2017 State Championship!  Here we go!  Here we go!  No excuses!  ATTACK

The Highlanders will be spending this Saturday at Bellaire’s practice field in a multi-team scrimmage format.  The schedules for the games and the directions to the park are below (the fields are NOT at the high school but behind Lovett Elementary).  The girls will ride to and from the games together on the bus.  We plan on leaving the school from the field at 7:00 a.m. Saturday morning.  Come out and support the girls in their first road test of the year.  Here we go!  Here we go! No Excuses!

610 West past 59 to Braeswood
Exit Braeswood and turn right at the light (N Braeswood)
At the next light turn right on S. Rice
At the stop sign at Jason St. turn left and left again on S. Rice to make a U-Turn
Turn right on Birdwood and follow it around
The park and fields will now be on your right
(Birdwood dead ends into Pritchett which dead ends into Jason if you would rather not make the u-turn and be on the other side of the street)

Congratulations to our senior signees who are being honored today!  They are continuing the rich tradition of Highlander Softball players who have earned the opportunity to continue playing softball at the next level with Becca Borstmayer going to Concordia University Irvine, Morgan Doucet to Temple College, Emily Langkamp to the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and Kelcy Leach to Texas Tech University.  These ladies have put in countless hours of hard work and dedication honing their craft and have been rewarded for their efforts.  But, before they leave, they have some unfinished business to take care of and that’s to bring home the State Title.  Here we go!  Here we go!  No excuses!  ATTACK

Conroe Courier TWHS Signing Day article

The scrimmage season kicks off tonight at Highlander Field when the Mustangs come to town.  The JV will start things off at 4:30 followed by the Varsity at 6:30.  So, put on your green and red, come out early and be loud as your cheer on the 2017 Highlanders in their quest for the State Title!  No excuses!  Here we go!  Here we go!  ATTACK!

Try-outs for the Lady Highlander Fastpitch Softball Team will be Friday, 1/20 and Saturday, 1/21 at the Senior Campus.  They are open to all girls grades 9-12 who attend The Woodlands High School.  If you wish to try-out, you must have a physical on file with the trainer, attend both days and email Coach Borths before Wednesday, 1/18 for more information.  His email address is:  tborths@conroeisd.net
