Game 2 with Dekaney has been moved to Grand Oaks High School at 8:00 tonight (April 30) because of the weather situation. So, pack your jackets and a snack and head over to Grand Oaks for some late night softball as the Highlanders look to Prevail and advance to Round 2!
The Woodlands put on a show at the plate Thursday evening.
The Lady Highlanders (17-13) earned a resounding 26-1 victory in five innings against Dekaney in Game 1 of the Region II-6A playoffs.
Kayla Falterman led the charge, going 3 for 5 with five RBIs. Alannah Leach was 3 for 4 with four RBIs. Gabby Leach was 3 for 4 with a home run, a double and three RBIs.
Haley Mountain was 3 for 5 with a double and three RBIs. Kiara Wiedenhaupt was 2 for 4 with two RBIs. Megan Michalsky was 3 for 4 with two RBIs. Emma Landauer added two RBIs, and Hannah Gartner was 3 for 4 with two doubles.
Game 2 will be played at 6 p.m. Friday at Dekaney High School.
SOFTBALL ROUNDUP: The Woodlands, Oak Ridge roll; Splendora advances
The Woodlands beat College Park 20-1 in three innings Saturday in District 13-6A to wrap up the regular season.
The Lady Highlanders (16-13, 6-4) will compete in the bi-district round next week as the third seed from 13-6A. The Woodlands will take on Dekaney, the No. 2 seed from 14-6A.
On Saturday, The Woodlands scored seven runs in the opening inning and added 13 in the second inning. Kiara Widenhaupt was 2 for 3 with two doubles and four RBIs in the win. Hannah Gartner and Kayla Falterman both drove in three runs and were 2 for 3. Sydney Hale also drove in three runs in the win.
Saylor Davis struck out six, walked one, allowed two hits and earned a run in three innings.
College Park got an RBI double from Emily Springer and ends the season at 8-22 overall and 1-9 in 13-6A play.
SOFTBALL ROUNDUP: Magnolia wins tiebreaker, clinches playoff spot
The Woodlands rallied to defeat Conroe 12-11 on Tuesday in District 13-6A play.
The win clinched a playoff spot for the Lady Highlanders (15-13, 5-4) and eliminated the Lady Tigers (8-13, 2-7) from contention.
The back-and-forth contest saw Conroe lead 7-2 after two innings. The Woodlands scored five runs in the top of the fifth and were ahead 9-8 entering the final two innings. The Lady Tigers scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth, then the Lady Highlanders scored three in the top of the seventh to take the lead for good.
In the top of the seventh, Kayla Falterman and Alannah Leach drove in runs with sacrifice flies to tie the game at 11, then an RBI double from Kiara Wiedenhaupt with two outs and two strikes sent the winning run, Gabby Leach, home.
Falterman was 3 for 4 with two RBIs. Alannah Leach drove in four runs. Haley Mountain homered and drove in two runs. Jordyn Jones was 3 for 4 with an RBI and two runs scored.
Zharia Jack hit a home run for Conroe and drove in four runs. Kennedy Powell was 2 for 4 with an RBI and three runs scored.
Both teams wrap up the district slate at 6:15 p.m. Friday. The Woodlands hosts College Park, while Conroe is at Willis.
SOFTBALL ROUNDUP: Oak Ridge clinches 13-6A title; The Woodlands, Grand Oaks secure playoff spots
The Woodlands snapped a two-game slide with a 20-10 win over Grand Oaks in six innings Friday night in District 13-6A.
The Woodlands (14-13, 4-4) has scored double-digit runs in each of its last six wins. The Grizzlies (14-6, 4-4) are now tied for third place in the district and are two games ahead of Conroe with two games to play.
Haley Mountain ended the game with a grand slam. She also doubled and totaled six RBIs for The Woodlands. Kiara Wiedenhaupt also homered and finished with three RBIs. Kayla Falterman and Alannah Leach each had two RBIs.
Kaitlyn Dunbar hit a 3-run homer for Grand Oaks and totaled four RBIs on the night. Avery Pemberton had two hits and two RBIs. Jacey Meade and Carissa Villarreal each scored two runs and drove in one run.
Grand Oaks hosts Willis Tuesday at 6:15 while The Woodlands makes the short trip to Conroe at the same time.

Kiara Wiedenhaupt led the Lady Highlanders (13-11, 3-2) at the plate, going 4 for 5 with two home runs and five RBIs. Haley Mountain was 2 for 4 with a home run and three RBIs. Hannah Gartner, Kaelyn Zusi and Alannah Leach each had two RBIs, and Kayla Falterman and Gabby Leach each had one.
Saylor Davis pitched four innings, allowing one hit and one earned run. She had five strikeouts.
Kaitlyn Corn had three RBIs to lead the Lady Cavaliers (8-17, 1-4). Jessica Battiste had two RBIs.
The Woodlands hosts Willis at 6:15 p.m. Friday, while College Park is at Grand Oaks at the same time.

The Woodlands had another productive night at the plate in a 12-7 win over Conroe in District 13-6A Thursday night.
The Lady Highlanders (12-11, 2-2) beat Grand Oaks Tuesday by scoring 16 runs.
Against Conroe (6-10, 0-4), Sydney Hale was 2 for 4 with a homer, three RBIs and two runs scored. Kiara Wiedenhaupt drove in a team-high four runs. Gabby Leach and Haley Mountain each drove in two runs.
Bri Dickson picked up the win with six innings of relief. She struck out five and allowed four earned runs.
The Lady Tigers got two doubles and two RBIs by Izzy Lozando. Zharia Jack had two RBIs while Shauna Cunningham was 2 for 3.

The Woodland outlasted Grand Oaks in a 16-13 shootout Tuesday night in District 13-6A play.
Between the two teams, there were just four half-innings that did not see a run come home. The Lady Highlanders (11-11, 1-2) jumped ahead 7-0 early before the Grizzlies (12-3, 2-1) scored nine runs in the bottom of the third. The Woodlands scored four runs in the top of the seventh to go ahead 16-11, then Grand Oaks scored twice in the home half but couldn’t tie it up.
In a game that saw 27 total hits, Jordan Jones of The Woodlands was the leader with a 4 for 5 effort that included two doubles. Gabby Leach was 3 for 4 with a double and five runs scored. Haley Mountain, Kayla Falterman, Kaelyn Zusi and Kiara Wiedenhaupt had two hits apiece. Wiedenhaupt and Hannah Gartner tied for the team lead with three RBIs each.
Grand Oaks was led at the plate by Jacey Meade, who was 2 for 4 with three RBIs. Kaetlyn Dunbar, Carissa Villarreal and Haley Pair also had two hits each. Meade and Villarreal both tripled, and Morgan Yeager hit a solo home run.
Both teams are back in action 6:15 p.m. Thursday. The Woodlands hosts Conroe and Grand Oaks is at Willis.
