The Woodlands used the same formula that has made them successful all season to take Game 1 at Montgomery.  Aubrey Leach led off the game with a walk and came around to score on a double to right by Kaitlyn Stavinoha.  In the bottom half of the inning, Abby Langkamp and the defense retired the side on two ground balls and a strikeout.  Then the Highlanders put another run across in the second inning when Shelby Dublin launched a line drive over the center field wall and Abby and Kelcy Leach proceeded to strike out the side in the bottom half.  The third inning saw Kelcy launch a two-run homerun of her own after Abby walked to extend the Highlanders’ lead.  Montgomery didn’t answer until the bottom of the sixth and the Highlanders came right back in the top of the seventh when Roma Thornton hit a double that scored Emily Langkamp.  Montgomery got one more run across before Abby struck out the final batter of the inning to end the game.  On the night, Abby had 13 strikeouts while scattering 5 hits and surrendering 2 walks and 2 runs.  The Highlanders had 9 hits and 4 stolen bases en route to their 5 runs.  The series heads to Highlander Field Friday night, so, come early, wear red and green, be loud and watch the The Woodlands as they look to close out the series.  Here we go!  Here we go!  Braveheart!
