The Highlanders were up to their old tricks in the first inning against Conroe as they utilized their speed and small ball to score 8 runs en route to a 14-0 victory.  Alayis Seneca, Shelby Dublin and Emily Langkamp all executed bunts and reached safely while scoring runs in that first inning.  The scoring culminated as the Highlanders batted around and Aubrey Leach hit a grand-slam home-run in her second at-bat of the inning.  The scoring continued in the second as Shelby scored on a double by Kelcy Leach and Roma Thornton scored on a ground ball from Kerry Martinez.  In the third, 9 Highlanders came to the plate scoring 6 more runs.  On the day, Alayis and Kelcy were perfect going 3 for 3 at the plate while Aubrey and Kaitlyn Stavinoha each had two of the Highlander’s 13 hits.  Aubrey added 3 stolen bases while Kaitlyn, Shelby and Alayis each had 2 on the night.  In the circle, Emily pitched four innings striking out 10 while giving up 1 hit and no walks while Abby closed out the fifth striking out 2.  Next up is Atascocita on Thursday.  The Highlanders travel there looking to gain ground in the district standings with a victory.  This will truly be a playoff atmosphere so make your plans now to come out early, wear red and green and be loud as the Highlanders take on the Eagles!  Here we go!  Here we go!  Braveheart!
