Benefitting the CASA Montgomery County Jingle Bell Christmas Toy Drive

When:  Thursday, November 15^th from 2:35 – 8:00pm (approx.)

Where:  Highlander Softball Field (behind TWHS)

Entry Fee:  $10 or one new, unwrapped toy for each turn in Round 1

Registration:  Contestants can register with a TWHS Softball player or sign up the day of the event beginning at 2:35pm at Highlander Field.  If you’re under 18, you must have a signed waiver from a parent or guardian.

RULES

• Contestants will use a bat provided by the softball team (various sizes and weights will be available) with a representative from Highlander Softball pitching regulation softballs on a line
• The contest will be comprised of 3 rounds
• Round 1: Will begin promptly at 3:00.  Each turn will be comprised of 10 swings by the contestant.  Batters do not have to swing at every pitch and a hit, missed, tipped or foul ball is counted as a swing.  After 10 swings, the turn is over and the number of home runs will be recorded for the turn. Contestants have the option of purchasing unlimited extra turns until 7:00.  After 7:00, no new entries will be taken.  The 5 contestants with the most home runs in a single turn at the end of the round will advance.
• Round 2: Will begin at the completion of Round 1 at approximately 7:30.  The same rules in regards to swings apply.  The 3 contestants with the most home runs in their turn will advance.  In the event of a tie, both contestants will advance.
• Round 3: Will begin at the completion of Round 2.  In this round, contestants will have 6 “outs” to hit as many home runs as possible.  An “out” is any ball that is swung at that is not a home run.  The contestant with the most home runs at the end of the round is the winner.  Ties will be broken in a sudden death format.

Mike Arendes was the winner of the TWH Fastpitch Booster Club raffle ticket drawing.  Sophomore Abby Frederickson sold the winning ticket that was drawn Saturday night at the annual Poker Social which was a huge success!  Thank you to everyone who supported TWHS Softball through both of these events!  We hope to see you at Highlander Field this Spring when the season kicks off.

The annual Texas Hold’Em Poker Social benefiting the TWH Fastpitch Booster Club will be held on Saturday, November 3rd at the Knights of Columbus Hall on 1488 (2655 FM 1488, The Woodlands, TX…..near Hwy 242).  Dinner and registration will begin at 5:00 with Texas Hold’Em play to start at 6:00.  Each table winner will receive a gift basket valued at over $100 while the overall winner will receive a $500 gift card.  Dinner, drinks and snacks will be provided and besides poker, there will be raffle drawings throughout the night, Black Jack tables and silent auction.  You must be 21 or over to attend.  All skill levels are welcome.  This is a night of fun and friendship with a little competition added to a social atmosphere.  Bring your friends, families and neighbors to come out and have a good time while supporting Highlander Softball!  Whatever It Takes!

Amanda Curran, Kayla Falterman, Emiley Kennedy, Alayis Seneca and Skylar Sirdashney are the latest Highlanders to be named to the Texas Sports Writers’ Association All-State Team.  These players were selected for their accomplishments at their positions from out of the thousands of 6A softball players from all over the state.  This is quite an accomplishment for these young ladies and demonstrates that good things happen when you Earn It every day!

Alayis Seneca is wrapping up her high school career with another All-State selection while Kayla Falterman is starting hers with her first.  This is Alayis’ second consecutive selection which is quite an honor!  She joins a select group of individuals who have earned this distinction.  Kayla has the opportunity to become the first 4-time All-State selection for the Highlanders, no pressure!  Congratulations to both ladies!  They have put in the hard work to Earn It!

TGCA All-State Team

Both of our graduating seniors are representing TWHS on the TGCA Academic All-State Team.  They are the epitome of student athletes maintaining a minimum 94 average throughout all 4 years of high school.  At a school with a rigorous academic curriculum like The Woodlands, that is quite an accomplishment!

Amanda Curran was selected to represent TWHS on the TGCA 5A/6A Blue All-Star Softball Team.  Abby Jones and Skylar Stockton were selected as alternates to the team.  This is a tremendous honor for all three girls as they have been selected from thousands of nominations from all over the state.

Amanda pitched 5 innings and hit a home run in the TGCA All-Star game to secure a victory for the 5A/6A Blue Team.

2018 SUMMER SOFTBALL CAMP

When:  June 5-7 (Tuesday – Thursday)

Where:  Highlander Field (6101 Research Forest Dr., The Woodlands, TX. 77381) behind the school

Staff:  TWHS coaches Tim Borths, Paula Miller, Randi Rascoe and TWHS former players

Sessions:    Session 1:  Girls entering 1^st – 6^th grade:  9:00 am – 11:30 am (11” ball)

                        Session 2:  Girls entering 6^th – 9^th grade:  1:00 pm – 3:30 pm (12” ball)

Cost:  $125

Registration is due by May 28^th to ensure T-shirt availability

2018 SUMMER SOFTBALL CAMP

The Highlanders will face off against an old nemesis and future district opponent in the fourth round of their quest to Earn It!  This is a ONE game series that will take place Friday night at 7:30 at Sam Houston State University.  The Highlanders will be the Visitors so, get your red and green ready, gas up the car and come out early to cheer on the Highlanders.  If you can’t make it, remember that you can always follow along on GameChanger or Twitter with “Two Dads and a Mic” @TWHSSoftball.  Here we go!  Here we go!
